If they resist, try again and count with them.

Take off the mask, praise and reward the child with toys or snack.
*Only reward if they were able to keep mask on for entire duration, if not repeat step 2-3)
*Do not reward if they display inappropriate . behaviours (pulling the mask off, licking the mask etc)
Step 5
Repeat steps 2-4 and try to increase the time gradually.
Next trial may be 5s. Then try 10s...1min..getting them to complete an activity (e.g. puzzles) before taking the mask off.
Slowly build up the child’s tolerance and then you are ready to go out!

Be creative and make it into a game, whether it is being a superhero or 'Hiding your nose' game!
